Kenwood Ts-2000 Serial Number Decoder
The Kenwood TS-2000 has been discontinued by Kenwood. They can’t give you any other information about it’s current status other than they recommend looking into a HT. It’s not worth trying to repair unless you know what you’re doing. There’s no way to get it working again. If you still want to get an idea of how it works, look at their info (they give good links) below.
The Kenwood TS-2000 has been discontinued by Kenwood. The newer TS-990 models (same hardware) are great upgrades and a better solution. However, it does not have Program Memory so you’ll need a program to use it. You’ll need to find the software and look up the patch for your radio. You can find the manuals at the Kenwood web site. They are actually downloaded when you first power up the radio.
After connecting the TS-2000/X to SatPC32 I noticed that the cat controle wasnt working properly. Because the serial controle is changed in version 12.8c the following has to be changed in the radio controle setup.TS-2000/X CAT problem with SatPC32 vers. 12.8c. With SatPC32 and SatPC32ISS version 12.8c DK1TB used a new component to manage the serial ports. The old component supported only COM port numbers up to 15. The new USB-to-Serial adapters generate often virtual port numbers > 15, however. Steering the TS-2000 with SatPC32 and SatPC32ISS vers.8c requires the option RTS+12V (SatPC32 menu Setup > Radio Setup) to be checked. That imitates hardware handshaking the TS-2000/X expects. The Kenwood TS-2000 series transceiver offers today’s demanding Amateur operator high performance standards without the compromising limitations found in other similar multi-band, multi-mode transceiver. The TS-2000 is serious about digital signal processing. KENWOOD’s advanced digital technology converts analog waveforms into digital data in real-time, enabling such digital processing as IF filtering, slope tune, auto notch and AGC. IF-stage DSP on main-band transmit and receive – including VHF and UHF bands – allows the greatest range of control and unprecedented performance. The TS-2000 offers 100 watts on HF, 6 meters and 2 meters, 50 watts on 70cm.
Like everyone else, I was looking for a good guide, this is it! I have a Kenwood TS-2000 (purchased online) and there are several things I cannot do with it (e.g., console). But I really love the feature-set of this radio and can’t wait to receive, decode, and transmit ham radio signals. I am not a professional operator, but I have been a ham radio operator for a few years. I had set up the Kenwood TS-2000 with the HamSystemsQSL website , but it has not come yet. I was looking for a copy of the
We had one of these trailers painted up in 1991. It had the full VIN on it. So we tried to contact Kenwood to get it fixed up. They never returned our calls and never had anything to do with this trailer. Its a very rare trailer and only 36 built. We ended up having to replace the tag in our trailer with the correct VIN and even paid a broker to track it down. So eventually we got it repaired, they dont do much with the newer serial number besides put it on the trailer.
Eventually we contacted Kenwood and got them to fix the tag and give us back the real VIN. They wanted a $2500 to fix. Well it wasnt that bad and would have been cheaper but we didnt want to deal with them anymore so we just let it go. Good luck if you own one of these trailers.
Perhaps, its even rarer than we thought and maybe even more valuable as “antiques” these days. I know at least two other people with one of these trailers. Two people have it stored in their basements and one in Oregon. The one stored in Oregon has the number on it just like ours does and one of the owners emailed this company about it when he was having a sale and was told he could have it for $2500.
